a heavily accented italian women, a super-regular of chow, both on hudson and sullivan, who i hadn't seen in a long time, said:
"cleefah, jewishah chowah biggah, jessah!"
i had no clue what she was trying 2 say.
but what i thought she was saying was: "chow got bigger w jewish folks, yes!"
and that would be true, being that chow has a large modern ultra-orthodox following; i also liked the way jewish sounded w/ her accent.
it was the first time i heard the wish in jew.
"je Wish ah, jess ah?" this was both a new thought and pretty song!
kidding, i pointed 2 my nose w my index finger, and said, " 2 jewish 4 u?"
laughing, she said:"noah, noah, noah, cleefah, u havah beauteeful nozah!"
still laughing, w a voice soft, she said, "u lovah chowah, si cleefah?"
i said, "si, of course!" "so," she said, "jewishah, jewishah bigah?
jewishah jewah believah inah bigah chowah 4deh worldah?
jewishah forah thisah, jessah?"
i was having a susan boyle moment. "a collection of villages, i had 2 think dear!"
"ah," i said, "yo comprendo ahora?"
"si," i promised, "yes, chow big force 4 the world!"
slowly she said, "soooooo, uuuuu, weee, shah, big, ahh, yehs!?"
"si santa maria!
"oh j, that'sah goodah cleefah, jessah!"
